After over 40,000 photographs, 4 days and 11 nights of shooting we’re happy to release the new music video for Hilary Grist’s charming ditty ‘A Little While’. The song has a old fashioned, music box sound to it and the lyrical theme is ‘a little while, that’s all we really have’ so I thought a timelapse would make a great video companion. I love the juxtaposition of Hilary’s calm, realtime singing coupled with the frantic sped up world around her. The video was shot during early October 2012 which happened to be the clearest month I can ever remember in Vancouver. Many timelapse attempts were foiled by a complete lack of any sort of clouds or movement. We we totally aware of the irony of wishing that the Vancouver sky would stop being so clear. Gunnar Radeloff came to the rescue with some great city timelapses that made the video complete. To go along with the old fashioned vibe of the song, I went for a Technicolor 2 Strip look on the whole video. This was the colour processing used on most Hollywood movies between 1920-1950 and is best displayed in the colour version of ‘The Wizzard of Oz’. I love how it gives the whole video a uniform, timeless and surreal look.
