Hilary Grist’s song, ‘Something Beautiful’ has a full length feature slot in the popular NBC/Syfy television show, “Being Human”! ‘Something Beautiful’ was produced and recorded by Collide’s Mike Southworth. Hilary’s music has also been placed on TV shows, ‘Degrassi’, ‘Endgame’ and ‘Go To Gal’.

Bif Naked and Will Blunderfield Release Charity Single

Producer Mike Southworth and Re-Mixer Russell Broom (Jann Arden) have teamed up with Nettwerk Recording Artist Will Blunderfield and Canadian legend Bif Naked to create a danceable version of Amazing Grace. All proceeds from the single will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Always a firm believer that the most important element in a video is a good concept, Collide’s Mike Southworth directed this entertaining video for Craig Koskimaki’s debut single, ‘All I Want Is Time’. The video was shot on greenscreen and overlaid on vintage public domain footage. Craig’s debut album, ‘Make a Move’ was also recorded and produced by Mike at Creativ Studios.

More praise for the new Warren Dean Flandez album, ‘Vintage Love’ produced by Collide Entertainment’s Mike Southworth! The Vancouver Sun has named the album in their top 10 along with notable BC artists Mother Mother, Dan Mangan and this years Peak Performance Project winners Current Swell.

The album was also in the top 10 on O.H.N. and #2 on the Montreal Mirror’s yearly top ten list.

Hot off a successful run on the CBC TV show, ‘Cover Me Canada’, 2012 should prove to be a busy and successful year for Flandez!

Kelly, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Hudson.

Tall Buildings Set To Be Displayed At Gallery

The Beaumont Gallery has announced they will be displaying Vancouver songwriter Hilary Grist’s cardboard piano-city, the astonishing set of her new music video ‘Tall Buildings’, beginning with a gala opening on Thursday, November 10th.

The impressively detailed piece took over two months to create and was built from recycled cardboard in Hilary’s 600 square foot Vancouver apartment. The set and video were created by Hilary and Collide Entertainment.

“There’s been an strong demand to see the cardboard piano-city set in person.” says Hilary. “We’re so happy it’s going to be on display at a fabulous gallery like the Beaumont, now we just have to figure out how to move it!”

In the three weeks since it’s release, the video has captured the imaginations of over 40 newspapers and online tastemakers including The Vancouver Sun, The Province and The Maple Ridge News. In addition, ‘Tall Buildings’ and the subsequent ‘making of’ video have been featured on a wide variety of websites ranging from popular craft and recycling sites to Arabic news portal Actionha.

The Beaumont will also be featuring a photo series of the ’Tall Buildings’ set by Collide’s Mike Southworth.

Since the 2010 release of her debut full length album, ‘Imaginings’, Hilary has truly taken the DIY independent artist mentality to heart; from hand drawing her popular stop-motion cartoon music videos to creating cardboard buildings, cars and miniature characters. “It’s really fun to watch how art and music can intersect,” says Grist.

The piano will remain on exhibit at the gallery until Nov 22.
